Summer Slow Down... Someone bring me some hockey, STAT!
August is an abysmal period for hockey news. We're reduced to rumors and conjecture (this year, largely about Mats Sundin), and have little else to amuse ourselves with other than 100-lists. But in the world of Ducks hockey, we've gotten some scraps to feed off.
First of all, there's been no news whatsoever on whether or not Ducks beloved forward Teemu Selanne will be returning to the line-up this year. New summer acquisition Brendan Morrison has been gabbing it up with the folks at the Reg about his jacked-up-but-healing knee, and apparently will be moving down to Newport Beach this week. (Psst, B-Mo... be sure to hire professional movers! I don't want you messing up your back pre-camp, k?)
In the meantime, the rookies will soon be gathering for camp and playing their first game against the Sharks in the sweltering desert that is Las Vegas. Our summer picks will be there while some of the veterans will be participating in the annual Fedorin Cup game at Anaheim Ice on September 6th. The vet presence will be represented by Chris Pronger, Ryan Getzlaf, Todd Marchant, and Brad May. (And I can't believe Getzy qualifies as a "vet" now). Bobby Ryan will also be playing, so that'll give me a good idea of what he'll look like at training camp, set to start on September 19th.
I'm planning on attending the Fedorin Cup, as I have for the last two years, but I can't say for sure just yet. However, if I do make it there, be sure to come say hi. I love visitors. And as it is, summer is going by so slowly and hockey season, quite frankly, cannot get here soon enough.
At least then, maybe I won't have to read about Todd Bertuzzi whining about his limited ice time here. Really, Bert? Ice time? Not underachievement or an inability to play within the system? Huh. Imagine that.

2 cheers and jeers:
I was pretty surprised when I read Bertuzzi's remarks about not getting enough playing time in Anaheim. He's a cancer and only provided more reasons why I hated the Ducks. So I guess, this season, I hate the Ducks less because he's not on the team.
So....B Ry has lost 17 pounds and gained muscle....Can't wait to see how he looks this weekend! :-)
