SCOTTY'S BACK AND HE'S GONNA CAUSE TROUBLE (for YOUR offense!)

Today, the Anaheim Ducks have announced that Scott Niedermayer has made a decision! He will return to Anaheim to play the final year of his contract - which, I'm guessing will be his last in the National Hockey League.

Now, before you ask - was he worth the wait? You tell me. Would you say 'no' to Scotty?!

(Pfft. It was rhetorical.)

I call him '(hockey)god' for a reason, you know.

The next thought to pop into my highly-excited brain is: when's Teemu Selanne going to re-sign?

And... who's going to bite the dust?

With Scott's return, and the $6.75 million dollar hit, somebody's got to hit the road. My thoughts on who's most at risk (in no particular order)?

- Francois Beauchemin: his performance dropped without the (hockey)god at his side
- Mathieu Schneider: he eats up over $5 million in salary room... (not that he's not worth it, because I quite honestly think the world of his abilities - 39 years old and aging aside.)

But we'll just have to wait and see!

3 cheers and jeers:

I'm tempted to write something, but if I do, it won't be nice. So I'll just leave it at this: Mathieu Schneider deserved better than this.

sarah - the 37 years old and aging commment wasn't meant to be bad! I was saying that despite his age, I consider him to be a top d-man! I love him, I think he's spectacular (minus the background as a King & Wing...ew.)

But, you know, I just told Sherry of Scarlett Ice that I'd do anything to keep him on too!

That comment wasn't directed at you (sorry if you thought so!).

It was directed at Scott Niedermayer. I used to love Scott. Now, I have lost all of my respect for him. If not for Scott's wishy-washiness, Mathieu could have stayed in Detroit (and won a Cup) and kept his kids in school. But instead he got his hopes up that he'd be able to actually settle his kids into their off-season home (SoCal) year-round while he finished out his career. Now, he either has to separate from his family or uproot them again.

One person has come through this year with ultra class, and it wasn't Niedermayer.
