Tonight: end-of-the-Queens-season Extravaganza!
Up in the nosebleeds (actually, I think Sleek will be down by the penalty box), we'll be hosting the first ever Blogosphere United end-of-the-Kings-season party. Any of you attending tonight's Ducks and Kings game are more than welcome to join in on our ruckus.
The guestlist includes my HLOG sisters Connie, KMS2, and Cassie, and our bros from the BoC Earl Sleek and RudyKelly.
The entertainment for the evening will be provided by the men on the ice. However, some of the usual suspects will be missing in action: Chris Pronger (suspension), Ryan Carter (broken wrist), Corey Perry (lacerated leg), and more than likely J.S. Giguere and Ryan Getzlaf will both be absent from tonight's festivities as well. Jiggy is still suffering through some back spasms and Getzy has some mysterious "upper body injury". The post-season hasn't even started and we're already throwing around ambiguous terms to refer to injuries!
One of the Queens that will be missing tonight's shindig is one of my personal favorites, Jack Johnson who's out thanks to a broken foot. He is, quite honestly, a player I salivated over (for his skills, not for his beauty... please. He's practically jailbait.) prior to his donning the purple and black. Now that he's a Queen, I'm obligated to not fawn over him on principle. Another Queen out of the lineup is Kyle Calder who's out with a broken finger. His absence has paved the way for KMS2's least favorite player to make a return. Who's the mystery man? John Zeiler.
(Yeah, I don't know either.)
In any case, the Ducks can clinch their playoff spot tonight if they secure one point in tonight's contest. Which means, for those of you who've fronted the funds for playoff seats and opted to pay-as-you-play, that your bank account will be substantially lighter the day after we clinch.
Jonas Hiller will likely start in net again tonight, so look for former Queen J.S. Aubin to be warming the bench in a Ducks jersey... then listen carefully for Connie's laughter. If you don't know much about him, read up.
If you arrive early enough to pre-party during warm-ups, you may spot me with my sign congratulating my latest fave duckling Brian Sutherby on his 300th career NHL game. To celebrate, I hope he pots one against the Kings. It'd just make my celebration of the end-of-the-Queens-season all the sweeter.
